Black and White Photography

  1. The three basic elements of a camera are the optical element (the lens), a chemical element (the film), and a mechanical element (the camera body itself).
  2. There is a mirror that allows you to see the actual image on an SLR camera.
  3. The aperture on a camera is the setting that controls your depth of field (background and/or foreground).
  4. It regulates the amount of light entering the camera and exposes it onto the film.
  5. You have to balance film speed, aperture size and shutter speed to fit the light level in your shot.
  6. Low film speed; it is less sensitive to light and needs more time to absorb enough light to make an image that isn’t underexposed or too dark.
  7. The Developer, The Stop Bath, The Fixer & Hypo-Clearing Agent.
  8. Cabinets, Bath, Tongs, Developers, Exposed Photographic Print Papers, Fixer, Developer Trays, Washes, Drying.
  9. The final image is actually developed silver, carefully washing the prints to remove all the unwanted materials, these prints can last a really long time.
